Just another trip back home....

Some bank related work took us to our home town last Friday ...Guess what we got on our way back...a small village on the way greeted us with a view to die for..

My Hunt for the perfect car....

As always letting go something you have owned for so long is a very tough decision to make.and a much tougher one is to decide the replacement .i think automobiles are the best examples of this.letting go my old M800 was tough but my expectations from a 2ndhand , 10 year old vehicle which had met twice with accident from my hand was too much and the poor thing was not able to cope up .Frequently it wanted professional help which was causing a ditch in my pocket so finally i made the decision to part with it,only to realize that the things were tougher ahead .. now

What car do i buy ?

I asked myself ...what and all i want from my new car ?
Then suddenly the Typical Indian in me woke up..

I wanted the luxury of a Merc,

The looks of a Audi,

The Feel of a Hummer,

the safety of a BMW ,

& the Fuel efficiency of a M80

at the cost of a Tata Nano.

I searched day & night for this... ,but Sadly none of the geniuses in the automobile world had thought of the above deadly combination , so on the entire face of the earth i was not able to find one which could satisfy my needs....I was disappointed ..i didn't want to compromise on any of the said things...but some times life is all about compromises..and finally i also did the same thing ....compromise..I decided to settle down for what ever was available...

Then came the 2nd question i think every indian who have thought about buying a car would have had this doubt...Which fuel to look out for Diesel or petrol ?
The best way to find an answer for this to see how much u would use ur vehicle..ifit is anything between 30-50 kms per day then i think you should bethinking of diesel..mine daily usage would come up to 35 kms per day but then i liked long travels so the choice here was very clear for me and also after the experience i had with my old petrol M800 and making the biggest blunder of converting that to LPG and after the recent price hikes....Diesel was a clear winner..

Now the 3rd question SUV,Sedan or a hatchback?
This question and its answer was very much similar to the answer of the 1stone...I wanted the go any were Feel of a SUV,The safety of a high end sedan and the economy of a hatch back....again another compromise here....i had to chose any one of this...Then i came out with a list of vehicles available in the market...

Maruti Swift vdi

obvious choice--Best resale value--Best VFM--Nice After sales service by maruti---Excellent mileage--I had booked this vehicle at the1st sight itself.I didn't like the looks so much but that's a personal opinion and it was not very bad also..---But no finally this is not thecar i brought...The waiting period was so long that i could not simply wait that much.

Maruti Grand Vitara

--Excellent looks---But sadly i could not afford.

Mahindra Logan

--A nice car--nice space--but thanx to the newly launched taxi service inbangalore--logan had become a taxi car and the looks were a little old for 7 odd lakhs.

Mahindra socrpio

Dream car--a perfect indian suv---butwho has 12 lakhs ?..and also heard that they are coming out with hybrid version of Scorpio which would give 18-19kml mileage---hopefully i can manage some money for that.

TATA Indica

--Another taxi vehicle,& the quality sucks...even somebody gifted me this car would think twice before taking it.

FiatPalio

--Frankly saying if this car had a better interior i would have taken this.an excellent car with gr8 mileage--superb built quality.if it islacking its lacking two things--one it badly needs some good interior& 2nd there After sales service.

Indica CS

--One thing tata is good at is making car which are rock bottom cheap both in pricing and also inq ulaity. The pricing of this car is a dream come true.just 4 & odd lakh for a semi mid size car.its a dream come tru...but then for me it was not very difficult to say no to this car,i just had to step in the driver seat.

Ford Feista Diesel

--An excellent car with very good looking interiors & styling ..a decent engine..supeb handling...Over all a decent performer..but 9 lakh for the fully loaded version was just too high for an average software junkie...

Hyundai verna

--An excellent car.The best est diesel engine you can find in a mid size car,but then i wish i had that extra penny...9 lakh was just out off question.

Then finally came in the little common rail wonder ...Hyundai getz crdi..

I was amazed to see this car..they had actually managed to push in the engine of a verna into a hatch back..with 110bhp under its hood,i could not ask for anything more...dual tone interiors..a super powerful ac...fantastic road clearance and not forget the well known hyundai back up...i was pretty much impressed. Then it was just matter of hours before i rushed to the maruti showroom..canceled the booking of swift and booked my crdi baby..

finally in july i was a proud owner of hyundai getz crdi..

Today after 8 months & 12000 odd kms ..i have not even had single second taught on my decision.Buying this car has been by far one of the intelligent things i have done in a long time.....

A few things about the dealer:-
I opted for Trident hyundai Bangalore since they offered to deliver the car in less than a weeks time.I went for all showroom fitted accessories. It was surely on the costlier side but then i wanted to get my car fully loaded and also didn't want to give to the hands of un trained people. But if you know some shop who are good at accessories pleas opt for that because that will save a lot of money.Coming back to the dealers..the experience was nothing great and also was neither disappointing it was ok..there were the last time confusions and yelling but i guess that always there..

& yeah last but not the least...i would like to thank bunch of car lovers inTeam-Bhp for helping me out with my the entire process of not only buying a car but also owning one..they can be contacted a thttp://www.team-bhp.com/web/. i bet if you are a car lover and love to travel you will be never sorry about visiting this site.

Sony Erricson K810i--A good buy for some one who knows what he wants.

i just brought this piece yesterday after almost 7 days of intense research on mobile phones.I was on the lookout for a mobile from last almost 1 month and had various models in my mind.Nokia N95 was on the top of them followed by Motorockr E6.so why i brought nither of them and instaed went for a model which i never had in my mind.ok so lets see what made me decide on K810i cyber shot.My basic requirements were a good camera phone with distictive look and intilligent phione which could organize my contacts and messages properly. So when i started on my hunt.I first went for Nokia N95 the ultimate phone in the market at a cost of 30 000 it was quite a master piece it has 5MP camera,GPS,GPRS so on and so forth...but hey do we really need them....5MP camera quite mouth watering, but tell me how many of us really plan to take our party /trip photos using a mobile phone rather than using a proper digicam.i doubt any one of us would do that....and iam sure when u compare with proper digicam of the same MP this phone camera won't stand anywere near...so any ways even u buy this 5Mp camera mobile at the end of the day when u take ur party photos using them ur going to repent by looking at the snaps taken by ur friend using a higher or same resolution camera which he would have brought for a smaller prize so in that case why u want to spent so much in the 1st place.ok now GPS....lets be frank how many of us know the full form of this....leave alone using it.....Do u want the satellite to guide u through ur city were u live in or would u trust the generous traffic police at each junction to guide u properly when u r lost...i don't think GPS makes any sense for a common man.ok. now the music part..yes this is a feature which is useful in a mobile and it also makes a differnce. but 30000...good quality music phones are avilable for a low as 5000/...so my take on N95 ..its a very good furustic phone for people have lot of money and less of moolah...Now comes E6.....i have only one comment for this phone abhishek bachhan rocks...see u want to sent an urgent sms to ur friend and u spent ur next 15 min in typing that message with ur stylyus...ho yeah u have another feature on this card reader...it reads buisnees cards...so motorola excepts us to take a snap of a buissness card as soon as it is given to u by some one and the phone will store the details for u quite futurstic idea...hey i have a beter one simple 3 steps.as soon as some one gives u card...Step1--receive it.step2--say thanks.step3--put it in ur purse.only one thing i like in motorola e6 is that it works on linux...may be i like this because i too work for a linux os company so in that regard this phone is quite impressive for me...and yeah one more very good thought from motorola bluetoothe stero headset...really futuristic and extremely comfy...so why i didn't go for e6...becase sms is frequently used by me since i can't afford to call my girl friend just say an hi....and no flash for the camera which again was a requirement

My next choice was N93 music edition i have nothing to say for this just 2 words.."IT SUCKS"switch on this mobile adn by the menu turns up u can finish a cup of coffee...seriously this is not a joke its personally tested i think nokia can tell this as a advertising idea..u know 1st phone which allows u to take coffee while operating it...u browse through the menu by the time u come back to the normal screen u would have slept.

So after discovering all these i was fed up...so i went to the dealer and asked for a good camera phone i thought i will transfer my head ache to him so let him get me a good phone...so thats how he showed me this cyber shot masterpiece..

By the 1st look itself my biggest need was full filled it distinctively stood out from other models even N95 resembled some of it predecessors but this phone had a distinction of its own.2nd 3.2 MP camera...real good snaps..sufficient for samll purposes...awsome xenon flash...nice menu....innovative buttons...cool resolution..good music along with radio....and above all perfect for my pocket at a prize of 16000...i was impressed by all of these...but yeah i have a complain on this also it comes with just 128MB card which is very insufficient ...

so If ur on look out for a decent phone with features which u will use frequently rather than features which ur grand childeren would end up using....then this is a good choice...especially the symbian os which sony uses is extremely user friendly...u would get addicted to this once u start using it.....

so thats it....my review on this.....GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY
